Charity Partner Profiles E-mail

Team Ortho Foundation is proud to work with other charities to raise awareness for their cause during our events.  Please take some time to learn about the charities who will be running with us at the Minneapolis Marathon:

 American Cancer Society DetermiNation

Make your miles more meaningful by joining the American Cancer Society DetermiNation (formerly known as Charity Runner) team! DetermiNation is the American Cancer Society's nation of athletes dedicating their participation in endurance events to a lifesaving effort to fight a disease that has already taken too many lives. Since 1996, thousands of our athletes have had an experience of a lifetime while raising millions for the fight against cancer. With every step taken and every mile conquered, these determined athletes are helping create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

By joining DetermiNation, you enable the American Cancer Society to help people get well, stay well, find cures and fight back. It takes determination to endure. It takes DetermiNation to find cures.

Active Kids Association of Sport – AKASPORT

Incorporated in 2004, AKASPORT’s mission is to provide sport programs and healthy initiatives to youth, families, schools, associations and communities to get kids of all abilities more active through sport and wellness opportunities.  Currently we provide after school multi-sport programs and are taking registrations for our 5th Annual AKA All Sports Camp at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN.  Our goal in joining forces with Team Ortho and the Minneapolis Marathon is (a) to network with active runners and sports enthusiasts and (b) to show kids the values of running and fitness, goal setting through sport, and giving back to the community.

By building the AKASPORT team with volunteers, runners, sports enthusiasts, philanthropists, and generally “good giving” people, we can provide the world to these kids by showing and providing them an active lifestyle and a better future.

Vail Place

For 29 years Vail Place has been delivering the message that mental health recovery is possible and happening every day! Vail Place serves people with serious mental health diagnoses, all of whom also face severe economic challenges and most of whom face co-occurring physical and behavioral health issues. We promote recovery and self-sufficiency by providing critical, community-based services, support, and resources in a holistic, integrated approach that helps people overcome the fragmented mental health system and find stable housing, jobs, friends, and a productive, valued place in our community.

Vail Place is excited to partner with the Minneapolis Marathon as a way to focus on the integral connections between physical and mental health, and to highlight the need for more of these creative partnerships to address the many challenges facing our community.

Charity Running Program E-mail

For the 2010 Minneapolis Marathon, Team Ortho Foundation is proud to announce that we are organizing a charity running program.

Team Ortho Foundation is a non-profit organization that centers on raising awareness about orthopaedic health. We create and put on events to keep people active which helps in bone, joint and muscular health. But we also donate money to organizations that do orthopaedic research or care for orthopaedic patients.

Because we appreciate the challenges that sometimes go along with being a non-profit, we want to help cultivate an environment where other non-profits can raise awareness for their causes by taking part in our events.

What is involved with Team Ortho Foundation's Charity Running Program?

Non-profit organizations will:

  • Provide proof of 501c3 status
  • Recruit at least 10 runners in the Minneapolis Marathon or Half Marathon
  • Organize and track fee payment by committed runners
  • Commit a volunteer group for two Team Ortho Training Runs or Events.

Team Ortho will provide:

  • Access to our weekly training runs.
  • A tent with a table and chairs at the Marathon Village on Race Day for gathering of your group and distributing of information about your organization.
  • Space on our website under Charity Profiles, to summarize your organization, post your logo and post a website link.
  • Two Minneapolis Training Runs to use for promotion and runner recruitment. These will be on assigned when non-profits submit their 10 runners to Team Ortho Foundation

We want to be a partner with other non-profits, who will mobilize, recruit, train, and run the Minneapolis Marathon or Half Marathon in support of their cause.

See who's already involved!

If your organization is interested in this program, contact us please include this information:

  • List of 10 registered runners
  • Agreement to provide Volunteer Groups for two Team Ortho Foundation training runs or events
  • A written summary of the organization, your logo and your organization's URL, so we can link to it on our website

Thank you very much for your interest in Team Ortho Foundation’s Charity Running Program.
